One of the main ways we achieved sustainability goals during construction was by managing our building waste, with 97% of it being kept out of landfill.
Our Witney building, which has been operational for a while now, continues to show our commitment to sustainability. It runs entirely on renewable energy, partly supplied by our own 11,000kWh solar panels. Following what we offer at our other UK locations, EV charging stations are provided for users. The building supports responsible workplace practices and has ergonomic, thoughtfully designed workspaces. Acoustic panels provide soundproofing for private and quiet meeting areas, and a living plant wall in the lobby brings a sense of natural calm indoors.
Sustainability at our Witney site
Before opening our new Witney facility, we set an ambitious goal to get BREEAM certification, which is a leading standard in environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Thanks to the hard work of our team and partners, the site is now certified at the “Very Good” level, showing our commitment to building practices that protect resources and enhance the wellbeing of our people.
Some key sustainability achievements include diverting 97% of building waste from landfill, using 100% renewable energy, installing solar panels that produced 21,000kWh last year, providing EV charging stations, and supporting local biodiversity initiatives. This certification marks a major milestone in our ongoing sustainability efforts.
BREEAM certified
Owen Mumford’s Witney production facility was designed with sustainability as a priority, reflecting the company’s strong commitment as a B Corp and supporter of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The building is set to achieve a BREEAM rating in the top 25% of all buildings assessed, highlighting its high standards for environmental, social, and economic sustainability. By working closely with experts, Owen Mumford has put strict sustainability practices in place throughout the design and construction stages. The certification includes a thorough assessment and audit to confirm that sustainability objectives – including pollution control and water resource management – are met. As local authorities put an even stronger focus on sustainable development, Owen Mumford intends to lead the way and inspire other businesses to adopt high environmental standards and experience the related benefits.
