Our journey began over 70 years ago when our founders, John Mumford and Ivan Owen, met while completing their apprenticeships in Oxfordshire. Driven by a shared passion to build their own business, they launched Owen Mumford Ltd in 1952. Fast-forward to today, we are proud to continue operating as a family business.

Just one year after launching, John and Ivan started producing the Oxford Inflating Bellows. When used with a vaporiser, it provided a simple, portable anesthetic solution that helped save countless lives. Their pioneering spirit didn’t stop there—it became the driving force behind the introduction of many other medical devices that shaped the industry.

We’re looking ahead with a strong focus on sustainability. Our planet needs us to act, so we’ve invested significant time in reviewing our processes and their impact. We’ve made public commitments to cut our carbon emissions through the Science Based Targets initiative, aiming to achieve a 50% emissions reduction by 2030 and reach net zero by 2045.

We already proudly support the UN Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals and were among the first in our field to earn B Corp certification. Looking forward, our state-of-the-art production facility in Witney supports ongoing development of innovative medical devices using sustainable design and manufacturing. The building itself is certified at a high BREEAM level, reflecting outstanding environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

We are driven by insights from our customers and clinical experts to keep finding new ways to improve our products and expand our portfolio.

As part of our new product development, we both create and acquire new technologies that allow us to offer innovative products and solutions. This process generates intellectual property, which we use across our products.
