Owen Mumford has been named a finalist in the TVCC 2025 Business Awards for ‘Excellence in Sustainability.’
This recognition shines a light on the company’s commitment to sustainable innovation in healthcare, especially through its groundbreaking remanufacturing project. Developed alongside CPI as part of the Innovate UK Grand Challenge on Sustainable Medicines Manufacturing, the project is helping create a circular economy for auto-injectors and supporting the industry’s move toward net zero emissions. With 2.5 billion handheld injection devices used globally every year, the sector produces around 750,000 tons of CO2e annually. As both environmental and regulatory demands increase, healthcare organizations must take action to lower their carbon footprint. Owen Mumford’s approach is a game changer—collecting, sterilizing, and remanufacturing used auto-injectors to cut device emissions by up to 95%.
This is the first time the UK government is matching funds for a project of this type, opening up an exciting opportunity for industry leaders to influence the future of sustainable drug delivery.
As part of the Innovate UK Grand Challenge, Owen Mumford and CPI are actively searching for more partners throughout the pharmaceutical supply chain to advance this initiative. The project will kick off in October 2025 and continue for between 24 and 42 months.
Don’t miss your opportunity to join this innovative effort—be part of shaping new standards for sustainability in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
