The site has set a benchmark for world-class design and development in medical devices, establishing a centre of excellence for automation and assembly to deliver a portfolio that drives innovation and growth for the long term.
One of the key ways in which we met sustainability targets during the build phase was through our disposal of construction waste, with 97% of it being diverted from landfill.
Our Witney building, which has now been operational for some time, continues to uphold our commitment to sustainability. It runs entirely on renewable energy, with part of that supplied by our own 11,000kWh solar panels. In line with our other UK sites, EV charging points are available for users. The building supports responsible workplace practices and features ergonomic, thoughtfully designed workspaces. Soundproof acoustic panels ensure quiet and private meeting areas, while a living plant wall in the reception brings the calming presence of nature indoors.
Sustainability at our Witney site
Before opening our new Witney facility, we set an ambitious goal to achieve BREEAM certification, a leading standard in environmental, social and economic sustainability. Thanks to the dedication of our team and partners, the site is now certified at the “Very Good” level, reflecting our commitment to responsible building practices that protect natural resources and enhance the wellbeing of our associates.
Key sustainability highlights include diverting 97% of construction waste from landfill, using 100% renewable energy, installing solar panels that generated 21,000kWh last year, providing EV charging points and supporting local biodiversity projects. This certification marks an important milestone in our ongoing sustainability journey.
BREEAM certified
Owen Mumford’s Witney production facility has been developed with sustainability at its core, reflecting the company’s strong commitment as a certified B Corp and supporter of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The building is on track to achieve a BREEAM rating in the top 25% of assessed buildings, highlighting its high standards in environmental, social and economic sustainability. Working closely with experts, Owen Mumford has integrated rigorous sustainability measures throughout the design and construction process. The certification involves a detailed assessment and audit process to verify that sustainability goals – from pollution control to water management – are met. As local authorities increasingly prioritise sustainable development, Owen Mumford aims to lead by example, encouraging other businesses to adopt similar environmental standards and benefit from the associated advantages.
