Amielle® Care vaginal dilators

Following radiotherapy to the vagina, cervix or pelvis, a woman may experience some internal scarring (adhesions) to the treated area, which can make the vagina narrower, drier and less elastic. Preventing the formation of scar tissue within the vagina helps ensure that it remains supple so that sexual intercourse and vaginal examinations can be performed without discomfort or pain.

Effective home treatment

Amielle® Care vaginal dilators offer an effective way to prevent potential post-radiotherapy issues in the privacy and comfort of your home. Used for five to ten minutes, three to four times a week indefinitely or as recommended by your doctor, the treatment is simple and safe.

Four graduated sizes allow you to progress in your treatment at your own pace. A smooth surface and handle make insertion and removal easier.

The vaginal dilator set includes:

• Four flat-topped graduated vaginal dilators (diameters 2cm, 2.5cm, 2.8cm and 3cm).
• A universal secure-locking handle to make the vaginal dilator insertion and removal easier.

Developed in conjunction with the UK National Forum of Gynaecological Oncology Nurses, Amielle® Care vaginal dilators build your confidence. Sexual intercourse can help prevent the formation of scar tissue, but it is not an alternative to using your vaginal dilator. It is important to preserve the intimacy of sexual intercourse.

Amielle® Care vaginal dilators feature a flat top that enables the device to comfortably reach up to the cervix, accessing areas where scar tissue might form as a result of radiotherapy. Radiotherapy treatments to the upper part of the vagina can cause the vagina to narrow, become drier and less elastic due to scar tissue formation. Using a vaginal dilator such as Amielle® Care can help prevent the formation of scar tissue, reducing the risk of painful penetration.
