We align our responsible business strategies and operations with the initiative’s core principles on human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption, making sure we hold ourselves to the highest standards. To keep improving on these standards, we publish our Responsible Action Report every year to share our achievements and keep up with our Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This year, our latest report highlights some exciting progress in our sustainability mission, especially with the development of our state-of-the-art facility in Witney, Oxfordshire. We’re dedicated to advancing our infrastructure and facilities to boost efficiency and reduce our environmental footprint, and our Witney location is a big part of this goal. As it’s nearly finished, the building is expected to be ranked within the top 25% of buildings rated with the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM). The BREEAM certification recognizes exceptional performance in environmental, social, and economic sustainability, not only preserving natural resources but also improving the well-being of the associates who will work there.

Sustainability remains a priority for us across all our current facilities. Thanks to our commitment to our selected SDGs, we’ve produced 134,280kW hours of clean energy through our UK solar panels, cut 8,536kg of CO2 by streamlining our logistics network, and lowered our global energy use by 8.4% from last year while increasing productivity. Achievements like these, along with many others in the report, demonstrate our dedication to bettering the environment.

We also recognize our responsibility to support the well-being of our associates, and we constantly review and improve our policies to promote gender equality throughout our worldwide network. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is vital, and we have a policy that lets our associates add up to 10 extra vacation days each year or sell them back if their plans change. We also uphold a strong standard of health and safety at every site to protect our associates. For the second year in a row, we’ve earned the RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Gold Health and Safety Award for our outstanding risk management and low incidents of error, harm, and loss. As an industry leader in engineering, we also keep investing in initiatives that encourage women to pursue STEM fields.

Everyone at Owen Mumford has an active part in delivering on our sustainability commitments, and our ongoing drive for continuous improvement means we’ll accomplish even more in the months ahead.
