Owen Mumford launches Empelvic in the UK under its consumer brand Clariti

The Empelvic cushion is designed to help treat common pelvic health conditions including vaginismus and stress incontinence

Oxford, England, 1st October – Owen Mumford has today launched the Empelvic cushion under its consumer pelvic health brand Clariti. Empelvic is an ergonomic cushion designed to help users connect with and engage with their pelvic floor, supporting better access to at-home treatment for pelvic health conditions such as vaginismus and stress incontinence. Since launching in Denmark in 2017 and more recently in Germany, the Empelvic cushion has been used by over 50,000 and won a Danish Design award in 2020 in the ‘Healthy Life’ category.

As more people look to treat sexual and pelvic health conditions at home, the need for practical and accessible products that support treatment has never been more important[i]. With over 70 years of experience developing medical devices and pioneering several world-first technologies, Owen Mumford is expanding its portfolio with consumer brand Clariti and products like Empelvic to provide a comprehensive range of solutions covering multiple therapeutic areas but connected by a guiding mission to reimagine the approach to intimate health.

Empelvic’s goal is to make pelvic floor training easy, accessible, and sustainable – helping reinforce this connection between the mind and the body. With versions for men and women, the non-invasive cushion is designed to help users connect with their pelvic floor. Sitting on the tactile cushion applies targeted pressure in the pelvic floor area, allowing users to feel the pelvic floor muscles move, relax and activate more easily. With this increased contact and awareness, users can better connect with and train their muscles to learn how to relax or gently strengthen their pelvic floor. The Empelvic cushion also helps users to relax the area, which helps treat a hypertonic pelvic floor – or one that is constantly contracting and causing painful conditions such as vaginismus.

Empelvic will be available alongside other pelvic solutions under its parent brand Clariti, which launched in July this year with a new website featuring a store and dedicated education section covering common symptoms, frequently asked questions and other useful information to support everyone on their pelvic health journey.

“Launching Empelvic in the UK is another milestone in Owen Mumford’s pelvic health journey and represents our commitment and focus to this new therapeutic space,” said Adam Mumford, Director of Medical Devices at Owen Mumford. “Empelvic and its parent brand Clariti offer Owen Mumford a unique opportunity to speak directly to consumers and demonstrate its expertise in developing innovative device solutions to a new audience.”
