Owen Mumford Announced as Finalist for Sustainable Manufacturing Award

Owen Mumford is proud to announce it has been shortlisted as one of the finalists for the Sustainable Manufacturing Award. This award category is part of the Cotswold Life Engineering, Manufacturing and Innovation Awards (EMI) 2016. The EMI Award programme celebrates businesses in the engineering and manufacturing sector across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and North Wiltshire. This award programme is to raise the profile of the value and importance of this sector to our future economy, as well as to encourage more skilled people and young people to recognise the career opportunities available.

Owen Mumford has placed Corporate Social Responsibility as part of its core decision making process. This saw the appointment of the Environmental Steering Group (ESG) which began in 2014 and was initially tasked with focussing on energy, given the significant costs and carbon emissions resulting from the industrial processes required in manufacturing products. Further work from this has seen the recent partnering with the social enterprise Low Carbon Hub, where an agreement was signed, which required the installation of solar arrays (solar panels) on both Owen Mumford UK manufacturing sites.  With this, Owen Mumford is set to avoid 66 tonnes of CO2 every year.

The finalists’ entries will now be reviewed and judged by industry experts and the overall winners will be revealed at the gala dinner at Cheltenham Racecourse on Thursday, September 22.
