Investing in sustainable energy
Did you know that our UK solar panels generated an impressive 134,280kW hours of clean energy in 2022? We are proud to be making a positive impact on the environment through renewable energy generation.
At Owen Mumford, we are committed to SDG 13 - Climate Action, reinforcing our dedication to creating a better future. We proactively implement energy-saving initiatives across all our sites, resulting in an 8.4% reduction in global energy usage for business processes compared to the previous year.
Our UK and German sites now use 100% renewable energy sources, and we have implemented energy reduction initiatives across all locations. By adopting LED lighting, movement sensors, and other adaptations, we have successfully reduced scope one and two emissions.
We are also investing in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. Electric car charging points are available across our German and UK sites, with plans to expand them in 2023 to facilitate our growing EV usage. Additionally, solar panels installed at our UK sites have already generated 134,280kWh of clean energy this year!
Last year, we installed solar panels at our Malaysian site, which are projected to generate approximately 420,000kWh of clean energy and save 288 tonnes of CO2 per year. We are proud to be reducing our carbon footprint globally.
Continuing our commitment to sustainability, our new production facility in Witney will maintain our sustainable practices. The site will use 100% renewable energy, including our own 11,000kWh solar panels, following in the footsteps of our other UK sites.
